Ungulation is inspired by the idea of creating a composition where all the negative space is active, and I thought that by doing so, it would theoretically make the piece feel more alive and have movement. It was only by accident that a deer/stag with antlers emerged from it, but I went with the energy of the piece and began crafting it centered around a focused stag design.
This was a fun piece because I didn't have any set intention—I approached it as a free-form expression, and I feel that free-flowing nature came through in the final result, giving it a flowing and energetic quality. This piece reminds us to approach life in a more improvisational way, and when you do that, you give energy the space to work its magic.
