Continuity by Samuel Farrand

Continuity by Samuel Farrand

Continuity is the result of a long exploration I've been on, trying to visualize a system where science, energy, and consciousness all intersect.

Each orb represents a dimension, starting with Dark Matter at the base and ascending all the way to Quantum Singularity at the top. They're not just colors or aesthetics. They're reflections of something deeper. Each one ties into a chakra, a law of physics, and a specific cosmic principle, like gravity, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and so on.

The overall structure is intentionally layered in a spiral, evoking the form of DNA, a visual double helix of cosmic intelligence. This is a kind of meta-structure, where each phase represents both a field of reality and a strand in a greater blueprint. It mirrors the ancient axiom as above, so below, suggesting that the energetic structure of consciousness is embedded in both the universe and the body. There are also visual echoes of the Tibetan Vajra, a symbol of indestructible truth and interconnected dualities. In this context, the Vajra becomes a bridge between opposites: particle and wave, spirit and matter, form and formlessness.

I wanted to create a visual that captured the feeling of rising through these layers, from the densest form of reality to the most subtle. It’s not just about space or energy. It’s about the unfolding of perception itself. The piece is built around this idea of a unified field where everything is connected: matter, motion, vibration, life, thought, and light.

How It All Connects:

🔴 Dark Matter
Root Chakra / Gravity
This is the foundation. The invisible force that holds the universe together is the same energy that grounds us to existence. Structure. Stability. Survival.

🟠 Tachyon Field
Sacral Chakra / Thermodynamics
The energy of motion, desire, and transformation. Just like thermodynamics drives change in the universe, this chakra governs passion, sex, creativity, and flow.

🟡 Photon Flux
Solar Plexus / Electromagnetism
This one’s all about power and identity. Photons are literal particles of light. They radiate, just like our willpower and personal energy does when we stand in our truth.

🟢 Carbon Nexus
Heart Chakra / Biochemistry
Where life happens. Carbon is the backbone of biology, and the heart is the center of connection, love, and empathy. The chemistry of feeling.

🔵 Pulsar Signal
Throat Chakra / Vibration & Wave Theory
Pulsars are cosmic rhythm — steady signals across the galaxy. This dimension mirrors communication, voice, and frequency. The truth we speak and how we vibrate.

🟣 Quasar Drift
Third Eye / Relativity & Perception
The collapse into vision. Quasars bend time and space, just like expanded awareness bends the limits of what we think is real. This is intuition, insight, and seeing beyond illusion.

Quantum Singularity
Crown Chakra / Unified Field
Everything collapses here. No more separation. This is where science and spirit merge. Infinite density. Infinite possibility. Complete oneness.

About Samuel Farrand

Samuel Farrand began creating psychedelic art in 1998 following his first visionary experience, but it wasn’t until 2007 that his visual focus began to crystallize into the body of work he is known for today. Inspired by the psychedelic styles of Alex Grey, Robert Venosa, Victor Moscoso, Luke Brown, and Xavi Panneton, his artistic path was deeply influenced by their ability to unlock new visual languages rooted in consciousness.

His work blends neon color palettes, intricate mandalas, and layered patterns to tell symbolic, often personal stories. Each piece carries intention—sometimes spiritual, sometimes emotional, always deliberate.

Over the years, Farrand’s art has been featured in exhibitions with collectives like Threyda and alongside artists such as Android Jones, Jake Amason, Glass Crane, and Justin Totemical. His visuals have appeared in immersive environments at Burning Man and psytrance festivals around the world, as well as in collaboration with renowned projection artist Jonathan Singer, known for his visuals on the Grateful Dead’s Fare Thee Well tour. His artwork has also accompanied live sets by Trip-Hop pioneer Dave Tipper.

Beyond the festival scene, Farrand’s creations have found homes in larger installations at Meow Wolf locations in Las Vegas and Santa Fe. A standout moment in his career came when one of his works was featured on the cover of Ayahuasca: A Test Pilot’s Handbook by Chris Kilham, a moment made even more significant when it appeared live on CNN.

Those interested in exploring the process and philosophy behind his work are invited to learn more on his dedicated artist page.
