The String Cheese Incident
Bluegrass, funk and rock meet in extended improvisations, bringing live musicianship into the festival’s electronic landscape. Listen to how the players respond to one another. The transition between ideas can be as rewarding as the song that begins or ends the passage.
Inside the sound
Jam bands place extended improvisation at the center of live performance. Songs can become starting points for musical conversation, drawing on rock, funk, jazz or other traditions as the set develops. For The String Cheese Incident, the most useful starting point is the balance described above: listen for the details that distinguish the music, rather than treating a genre label as the whole story.
