White Rabbit, 2021, – This might be obvious to some, but in case you didn't know, this is my "Alice in Wonderland" interpretation. This was such a fun piece because there's already so much creativity with that theme, so going in and reinterpreting it while staying within context was a blast. There's a debate about whether the real story of Alice in Wonderland was influenced by a psychedelic trip, so with my interpretation, I made the acknowledgment black and white and drew my inspiration from my own psychedelic adventures.
With this piece, rather than going full-on cartoon, I emphasized a more natural, organic approach with subtle details that make you stop and realize what's really happening. I wanted this piece to look like something you could actually stumble upon in the woods but with some sort of holographic overlay. This piece was a lot about seeing the world with new eyes and invoking that childlike wonder and innocence.
What about everyone else? What kind of feelings, thoughts, or emotions did it invoke in you?
This work was huge, measuring 48x60", and took me about 120 hours to complete. Prints available.
