Optech Analysis, 2018, – As a kid, I was fascinated by scientific illustrations, the ones that show the structure of molecules, DNA, or the behavior of nuclei under an electron microscope. With this piece, I wanted to create something similar but with a psychedelic twist: an illustration of an eyeball under the influence of LSD.
While not scientific, it’s my take on blending the realms of psychedelia and science illustration. I aimed to depict how the brain processes color while under the influence of psychoactive substances by refracting light and portraying the eye as a sophisticated tool for consciousness to observe itself.
Vision, when experienced during a psychedelic trip, feels like a completely different phenomenon. So, I made this piece for psychonauts to reflect on while in that altered state of mind.
The artwork took me around 60 hours to complete and measures 32x32". Prints available.
