Empyrion, 2018, – This configuration is a fusion of several visionary experiences I had during the summer of 2018. For this work, I aimed to depict an overlord using a visual aesthetic I began exploring around 2015, characterized by black with rainbow iridescent highlights.
Mythology plays a significant role in my work, so I sought to create my own mythological being—a powerful, angelic entity with multiple heads. In my work, multiple faces or heads symbolize collective consciousness or an all-pervading awareness, which is precisely what this being represents to me. The multiple arms, reminiscent of Avalokiteshvara, embody this being's boundless empathy.
The image begins at the bottom with an energetically active figure, symbolizing a deep connection to greater awareness. This figure comes to realize that they are the creators of their own reality, from which the central being—Empyrion—emerges.
Existing in a multidimensional realm beyond time and space, Empyrion acts as an overlord, capable of intervening across various planes of existence, offering protection to those who call upon this powerful entity. Envisage took me approximately 80-100 hours to complete and measures 34x48".
What emotions or thoughts does Empyrion evoke in you, especially considering its representation of collective consciousness and boundless empathy?
