1. Presents under the Tree
Every winter solstice shamans would gather & collect mushrooms found under evergreen trees (presents) and store them in burlap bags. (Santa Claus) The mushrooms would then be distributed to the loyal and worthy villagers then hung up and dried by the fireplace to be consumed on the solstice. (stockings) In ancient northern europe Christmas was the celebration of the return of light.

2. The Legend of Santa Claus
The Legend of Santa comes from northern Eurasia. Shamans venture out every winter solstice dressed in deer hide to collect the sacred Amanita Muscaria mushroom. The image of a plump man wearing a red & white cap & suit is a representation to the mushroom, which was stored in bags. The shaman would climb down the chimney of yurts to hand out the "gifts".

3. Hanging Ornaments
Hanging ornaments & presents under a Christmas tree comes from northern Europe from when shamans would gather and collect mushrooms found growing under evergreen trees (presents). The shaman placed the mushrooms on the tree to dry out. (ornaments) Once the mushrooms dried they were then stored in burlap bags to be distributed on the eve of the winter solstice.

4. Elves & Reindeer
The Sami people are indigenous society who reside in northern Finland & Sweden. In old age they were reindeer herders and is where the legend of Santas reindeer was adopted from. The Sami people dressed in colorful attire and were small in stature and is where the notion of the elves come from. Many Christmas traditions we owe to the Sami.

5. Hanging Stockings by the Fireplace
The Tradition of hanging stockings by the fireplace originate from northern Europe. On the winter solstice northern shamans would gather mushrooms found under evergreens and place them in burlap bags. The mushrooms were placed by the fire to dry overnight, and then would be consumed the following day.
